Samsung Electronics announced to provide Turnkey Semiconductor Solutions to Preferred Networks

Samsung Korea on July 9, 2024: Samsung Electronics recently secured a significant order to provide Turnkey Semiconductor Solutions from Preferred Networks, a Japanese artificial intelligence company, to manufacture cutting-edge AI chips. This marks the first order Samsung has disclosed for its state-of-the-art 2-nanometer chip contract manufacturing process.

Junichiro Makino, VP and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Computing Architecture at Preferred Networks, said: “We are excited to lead in AI accelerator technology with Samsung Electronics’ 2nm GAA process. This solution will significantly support Preferred Networks’ ongoing efforts to build highly energy-efficient, high-performance computing hardware that is used to develop and implement practical applications of generative AI technologies, including large language models.”

“This order is pivotal as it validates Samsung’s 2nm GAA process technology and Advanced Package technology as an ideal solution for next-generation AI accelerators,” said Taejoong Song, Corporate VP and the head of Foundry Business Development Team at Samsung Electronics.
