IAM CORE, U.S. Union and Apple reached a tentative labor agreement

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers’ (IAM) Coalition of Organized Retail Employees (IAM CORE) has reached a tentative labor agreement with Apple. This agreement is a significant step forward for the workers at the Towson, Maryland Apple retail store, who became the first in the country to unionize in June 2022.

Key points of the agreement:

  • Improved work-life balance: The agreement addresses concerns about work-life balance, which has been a key issue for the workers.
  • Pay raises: Workers will receive pay raises, though the exact amount hasn’t been specified.
  • Job security: The agreement includes measures to enhance job security for the employees.

The workers at the Towson store will vote on the tentative agreement on August 6th. If approved, it will mark a historic win for the labor movement in the tech industry.

Additional Information:

The negotiations between IAM CORE and Apple have been ongoing since January 2023.

In May 2024, IAM CORE members voted to authorize a strike against Apple due to stalled negotiations.

This agreement is a significant development in the growing unionization movement among tech workers.
