Coal Production in India reached 84.63 Million Tonnes (MT) in June 2024, marking a 14.49% growth compared to June 2023 (73.92 MT).

CIL, the major coal producer in India, achieved 63.10 MT of coal production in June 2024, showing an 8.87% growth compared to the same period last year.

Coal production by captive/other sources reached 16.03 MT in June 2024, a significant 55.49% increase compared to the previous year.

Coal stock at Thermal Power Plants (TPP) also witnessed a notable rise to 46.70 MT on July 1, 2024, with a 30.15% annual growth rate.

This remarkable growth in coal production is attributed to the government’s relentless efforts and strategic initiatives towards achieving self-reliance in the energy sector.
