China’s BYD, known for its affordable electric vehicles, has made a leap into the luxury market with its first electric supercar, the Yangwang U9. Production has begun, and deliveries are expected to start in late August 2024.
The Yangwang U9 is an all-electric supercar manufactured by BYD Auto under its luxury car brand Yangwang. Unveiled in April 2023 at Auto Shanghai, the U9 is the second vehicle from the Yangwang brand, following the U8 off-road SUV.

- Range: Maximum range of 450 km (280 mi) based on the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC). Equipped with four advanced electric motors, producing nearly 1,300 horsepower, the U9 can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 2.36 seconds, surpassing even some renowned supercars like Ferrari and Bugatti.

- Battery: 800V electrical architecture with a maximum DC charging power of 500 kW.
- Charging: The supercar supports fast charging, going from 30% to 80% battery capacity in just 10 minutes.
- DiSus-X: Advanced suspension system for enhanced handling and stability.
